NANOSOL
- Start of the project : 01-01-15
- End of project : 31-12-18
The objective of the NANOSOL project is to develop the technology for the dispersion and functionalization of sol-gel by means of nanomaterials that can be applied industrially. Lighting systems that provide 50% more light for the same energy consumption, glass tables resistant to scratch marks, new buildings that include metal coatings that are not only more resistant to mechanical attacks, but also offer incomparable aesthetics and design…
The research aims to combine the advantages and technologies of sol gel with the properties of nanomaterials to acquire a solid base of skills and develop transparent functionalized coatings. The followed ex-situ method will start from existing nanomaterials to develop universal functionalization independent of the particle in order to obtain functionalized, efficient, homogeneous and durable coatings.
Two methods are considered :
- Nitrogen or fluorine cold plasma method
- Chemical method
The main scientific and technical challenge will be to develop technologies for the dispersion and functionalization of nanomaterials that are industrially applicable. It will focus more particularly on two functionalities in priority for metallurgical substrates and flat glass:
- Coatings with adjustable refractive index
- Improving the mechanical resistance of surfaces
