MACOBIO
- Start of the project : 01-01-16
- End of project : 30-06-21
The MACOBIO research project is part of the cluster of ERDF 2014-2020 “Low Carbon Footprint Materials” projects on the valorisation of natural resources for the manufacture of new materials of bio-sourced origin. MACOBIO focuses in particular on the design of BIOsourced COmposite MAterials, such as composites based on innovative thermoplastic and thermosetting biosourced matrices, reinforced by natural fibres.
The aim of the project is to contribute to the development of materials but also to the development of the associated implementation processes. It aims to go as far as the production of prototypes of complete parts, to characterize these products and compare them with their oil-sourced equivalents in terms of properties and carbon footprint, by carrying out life cycle analyses.
Objectives and missions of Materia Nova
Within the consortium, Materia Nova carries out:
- The synthesis of biosourced resins and the selection of the most relevant ones with regard to their physical properties.
- The selection of fibres and study of the fibre-matrix interface during the incorporation of fibres into resins.
