BIORG-EL
- Start of the project : 01-06-16
- End of project : 31-03-21
The production of organic semiconductor materials (molecular and polymer) is set to develop with the growth of “consumer” applications using these materials (display screens, OLED lighting, solar cells, etc.). On the one hand, these materials have the potential to drastically reduce the electricity consumption of nomadic electronic devices and on the other hand, they form the basis of new technologies for the production of low-cost offshore energy from solar energy, in particular organic photovoltaic technology and the generation of hydrogen and other “solar fuels”. The BIORG-EL project aims to develop new bio-sourced organic semiconductor materials. The sources of biomass envisaged are wood and algae. These new materials are specifically targeted for three applications: active materials for OLED lighting sources; semiconductor materials for organic photovoltaic (OPV) technology; organic dyes for the production of hydrogen by photolysis of water (“solar fuels”).
Objectives and missions of Materia Nova
Within the consortium, Materia Nova will be particularly involved in:
- The optimization of optical and electronic properties
- The implementation of new semiconductors and incorporation into prototype devices
