MASCOP (Manufacturing with Smart Copper Powders)

On November 28, we were pleased to officially launch the MASCOP (Manufacturing with Smart Copper Powders) project, a collaborative initiative led by CRM Group and Materia Nova as part of the Win4Collective program, with the support of SPW Research.
The aim of this project is to revolutionize copper component manufacturing and repair technologies, using innovative Cold Spray (cold metallization process: metal powders are sprayed at very high speed by a pressurized gas onto the part to be repaired, with the impact force ensuring the quality of the deposit) and DED (Direct Energy Deposition - Laser Powder) processes.
Materia Nova's role in this project will be to process copper powders by PVD to :
- Improve infrared absorption and optimize laser coupling via refractory deposits.
- Add alloying materials to improve substrate adhesion and reduce thermal stresses.
- Enhance the reliability and durability of copper components in a variety of applications.
We are proud to collaborate with industrial partners representing the entire value chain, including POLMANS SA, Soudobeam, IONICS, Advanced Coating, walopt_aero, CAPAUL, Höganäs AB, Husqvarna Group, and EHP (Euro Heat Pipes).
