Horizontal and vertical electrophorese
Analysis of DNA and protein (size). It consists in exposing a mixture of molecules to an electric field, which the migration of charged molecules, depending on different parameters such as charge, mass, form. Migration speed will vary, which allows the separation of different molecules. We generally use agarose or polyacrylamide gels.
Advantages
- Electrophoresis is a separating technique. It is usually used in an analytic purpose but also sometimes to purify solvable molecules, to extract DNA.
